  1. Remove loose rust and existing paint. use abrasives to achieve this. Read here for using the Primer in the kit
  2. Use Masking tape and dust sheets to protect all surrounding areas and equipment
  1. using a steady motion spray from side to side until the first coat of Rust Encapsulator primer has fully covered the item. Leave until touch dry (5>15 minutes typically), and apply the second coat at 90- degrease to the first in an up/ down movement. you may want to twist the nozzle 90 degrees if using a fan nozzle. Repeat the process at least once more.
  2. Leave item to cure for 1>2 hours until product has hardened (in low temperatures, or poor ventilation this time can increase considerably)
  3. As above with the Rust Encapsulator primer use the top coat finishing aerosol to apply your first coat. Allow to touch dry for 5>20 minutes depending on conditions before applying your final top coat.
Note. Should the finish become contaminated with debris, or dust simply allow the finish to cure and lightly refinish with 240 or higher grit wet and dry. Re apply once flat and dry.

So i purchased this "kit" not really knowing what was involved.

Buzzweld talked me through the entire process, pointed out some glaring holes in my plan, and advised me on this kit. With the contamination killer I removed the dinitrol, and that allowed the RCP primer included to stick properley.

Still a little uneasy that i can just paint over the rust, after taking off the loose stuff, but after using the RCP, i let that cure and followed it up with two heavy coats of the Oxide-x and that meant i could use a sanding pad and make my crossmember nice and smooth ready for the top coat. That went great, and it gave me a finish like a spray shop for a fraction of the price!!! will definetly be using another kit on my rock sliders to tidy them up, but they are galv, so i am informed i will need the fluid etch for that
