Buzzweld DTM Direct To Metal Satin Paint
Buzzweld DTM is a specially formulated Glass Flake Impregnated single application (when applied neat through airless spray or similar method) high build coating based on a fast drying high solid alkyd resin.
DTM has excellent chip resistance, corrosion and seawater resistance with benefits including;-

TINTABLE
- Tintable INCLUDING COLOUR aerosols come pre loaded ready to use. Tintable with colour tins will come with a separate tin that contains the colour. Simply add this to the tint at 10% and mix well, then use.
- Tintable NO COLOUR you will receive a your order MINUS 10% product so that you can fit the tint in. so ordering a 1L schutz of tintable no tint you will receive a 1L schutz tin with 900ML of product in. add 100ML of tint, mix well and apply. Tint can be ordered separately here
Suitability
Compatible with most fully cured paint systems, DTM is suitable for protecting a range of prepared steel surfaces from chassis and underbody to axles, bodywork and more.
Preparation
- Ensure surfaces are, dry, clean and free from grease, dirt and other contamination.
- Remove scale and rust and prepare to a minimum ST3.
- Apply two coats by applying initially 100 micron wet followed by a brief dry off period then a further application of up to 200 micron.
- Allow to dry for approx. 3 hours before handling
- If applying a thicker / textured coating ensure plenty of fresh warm air (min 15c) during the initial 24 hours of curing. otherwise solvent entrapment may occur and the cure time be disproportionatley longer than TDS
Application Methods.
Aerosol > typically 4 coats. Check film is minimum 100 microns DFT, > 180 microns for higher profile such as aggressive blasting.
Schultz tin spray- Applied neat 60> 75PSI typically

By selecting the Platinum option you are purchasing the highest grade of DTM we can produce. For ultimate sound and thermal insulation we recommend applying DTM over Cosyfoam.

Normal paint tin for brush / roller / thinning and spraying
1000ML Schutz Undercoating Tin
Stubby Schutz Tin. These tins work with our FX10 Spraygun & FX11 Spraygun. The gun screws directly on. To use a normal Schutz gun with a stubby schutz tin, you need to trim the pickup tube 75mm shorter.

Normal paint tin for brush / roller / thinning and spraying
400ML Aerosol (traditional)
Traditional aerosol.
400ML Buzzweld Powercan The Aerosol powercan uses NO THINNER. as a result the can outputs the same amount of paint as a spraygun. This means less coats, a much higher film build and time saved. HOWEVER- the cans empty themselves very quickly. Protection VS coverage. When using a powercan you need to spray from further away. This can can also be used as a textured bedliner spray (comes with two nozzles).

This paint is brilliant I wanted something to do my bumpers with as the paint was flaking .
I emailed my query and received an email the next day with there recommendation. I ordered it and picked it up the next day.
It’s was colour matched to my van and the match was perfect.
I will definitely be ordering again for my rear bumper next as that has a few flaking bits.

I used this product for the first time to cover my van and it’s absolutely flawless. It’s really simple to mix up and the colour is consistent throughout and I was mixing this is small batches at a time. Highly recommended

Had a tin made up with Ral code tint. Great paint, covers well and fast drying. Applied with a small roller and brush for the corners. Have to work pretty fast due to the drying time, but cures pretty even.

Emailed Buzzweld for advice on my specific use-case and this was one of the products they recommended for the job. I bought the aerosol version and probably the nicest spray paint I've ever used, it goes on superb, good coverage, the finish is excellent and the satin sheen is spot on. Will be ordering plenty more

The guys at Buzzweld really know their stuff. I was in need of lots of advice regarding the refurbishment of my 15ft shipping container catering trailer and they couldn't have been more helpful. I wanted to the DTM to be colour matched to another company vehicle which had been wrapped recently. I posted a sample down to be matched which was spot on. The unit now looks like new, I couldn't be happier with the result.

DTM AEROSOL IN SATIN BRONZE GREEN 12 November 2022 | Anthony
Was looking for a solution to paint some radio equipment which has mixed metal type casings and was currently partly painted with plenty of chips and nocks to with some rust on the steel parts. After removing rust and a light scuff to the rest i could spray this paint over it all.
After a really! good shake the paint came out in a very nice spray from the can and high build too which covered the surfaces in 1 to 2 coats leaving a good thick build which coved the old paints scrapes and knocks very well. Overall an excellent product very happy.

I previously painted a friend's van in Raptor tinted. I bought the paint from another supplier and it was terrible you could still see the original colour underneath. I had to do redo the paint obviously.
Anyway after consultation with buzzweld them phoning me I decided DTM was the way forward I ordered a tub of the stuff 20 litres as I already had the raptor effect on the van I needed something to cover the rubbish paint from before.
I decided to roller the paint on and what a choice that was it went on like a dream took 3 hours to paint 3 coats onto the van. I could have got away with 2 coats but I enjoyed laying the paint on I went with 3. This paint is amazing already tinted so I literally took out what I needed into a paint tray and rollered away I would recommend this paint to anybody wishing to paint there van, car, trailer anything.
I have to say a big thank you to buzzweld for there help what could have cost me £600 to rectify due to previous poor quality paint supplied i did it for a quater of the price.

I haven't used my items yet but the knowledge from the staff member on helping me pick the correct paint to protect the underside of my evo was excellent. The items came 2 days after I ordered them.
Looking forward too using them soon.
